The Staff Pad is partnering with a leading healthcare organization in Helena, MT, to hire an Orthopedic Clinic Technician (Medical Assistant - Orthopedic Clinic) for their orthopedic care team.
This position assists physicians with orthopedic procedures while providing direct and indirect patient care. This is a hands-on clinical role where you help patients recover mobility, manage injuries, and navigate their care from evaluation through recovery.
The Technician also coordinates procedure scheduling by ensuring required testing, authorizations, and resources are completed before procedures. You'll work alongside orthopedic specialists in a collaborative care environment where your contributions directly support outstanding patient outcomes.
Schedule: 5-day per week clinic position | Weekend and/or holiday rotation may be required
What You'll Do
Orthopedic care depends on precision, coordination, and compassion. In this role, you'll play a vital part in helping patients recover safely after injury or surgery by providing seamless, coordinated care, educating them on orthopedic devices, and keeping their treatment moving forward without unnecessary delays.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with orthopedic procedures (surgical and non-surgical)
- Support fracture reductions, traction applications, and hardware removals
- Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and other immobilization devices
- Perform dressing changes and provide wound care support
- Fit patients with orthopedic braces, immobilization devices, and continuous passive motion (CPM) machines while providing education on proper use and care
- Coordinate procedure scheduling and support efficient clinic flow
- Ensure completion of pre-surgical testing, prior authorizations, and care coordination
- Help maintain an efficient, organized, and patient-centered orthopedic clinic
- Stay calm under pressure, managing multiple priorities with professionalism and initiative, communicate effectively and actively participate in ongoing education and staff collaboration

What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Degree in Athletic Training or related healthcare field preferred
- Current BLS certification required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required within 6 months of hire
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Previous experience in a hospital, orthopedic, sports medicine, athletic training, or physician office setting preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent gross and fine motor skills
- Commitment to ongoing education, required training, and maintaining clinical excellence
